At the recent FHA Food & Beverage 2024 event in Singapore, we partnered with stand builder Mojo Concepts to improve the sustainability of the Australian and New Zealand pavilions.

90% of the stand structure and walls were either reused or recycled. Additionally, 100% of the platform flooring was reused, and all furniture and equipment were hired to guarantee complete reuse.

Both the lighting and rigged structures were sourced from hire companies, allowing for 100% reuse as well. Finally, 50% of the ceiling materials were reused, while the remaining 50% were recycled.

More broadly, the FHA Food & Beverage show, organised by Informa Markets, has become a leader in sustainability through its "FasterForward" initiative. This program is focused on reducing the environmental impact of events while supporting local communities and host cities. Efforts such as waste sorting, powering events with renewable energy, and promoting innovative sustainable solutions like alternative proteins, are setting new standards for sustainable event practices.

As Charlie McCurdy, Non-Executive Chairman of Informa Markets and Strategic Advisor at Informa PLC, notes, “Sustainability has been of growing commercial and personal importance for several years now, but to make the most of these opportunities and address the challenges in the events industry, we all need to collectively double down on our commitments... Many of our events in Singapore have already started on this pathway.”
